Q: What services are covered under FBHPartners Medicaid?
A: There is an array of services that can be accessed by Medicaid Members. You may request a Medicaid Member Handbook at 303-432-5956.

Q: I think I may need mental health services; how do I get services?
A: If you have Medicaid, you have a couple of choices.  You can call the community  mental health center where you live or you can call a provider listed in our Provider Directory. The mental health centers in the FBH area include The Mental Health Center Serving Boulder and Broomfield Counties (MHCBBC) and Jefferson Center for Mental Health (JCMH).  MHCBBC's phone is 303 443-8500. Jefferson Center serves Clear Creek, Gilpin and Jefferson Counties. Their number is 303 425-0300.

You will be offered an intake appointment within seven calendar days.  Be prepared that there will be an "intake" process wherever you go.  During that process, you will work with the therapist to decide what services would benefit you.

In a mental health emergency you should call 911, call FBHPartner's 24-hour emergency number 866-245-1959 or go to the nearest emergency room.

Q: I've been told that I have a mental health disorder or diagnosis.  How can I learn more about this and the types of treatments available?
A: If you already have a therapist or psychiatrist, ask them to explain why they think you have a particular disorder and what are the most effective treatments for the disorder.  Ask them if they have any handouts they can give you.

Q: Do I have to go to a local mental health center for services?
A: No, you may select a provider in the community from the FBH Provider Directory or by calling 866-245-1959.  You also have the right to ask FBH to contract with a provider of your choice.   However, if you or your family have complex needs,  the local mental health center may be a better choice for you.

Q: What if a Provider tells me I have a co-pay or deductible?
A: If you have Medicaid benefits, you will never have a co-pay or deductible for covered mental health services.  You may have a small co-pay for prescribed medications.   If you receive a bill from a provider,  please call the Office of Member and Family Affairs at 303 432-5956.

Q: How do I know what my rights are?
A: As a Medicaid recipient, you have certain rights and responsibilities regarding your mental health services.   The Member Handbook also includes the Client Rights and Responsibilities. You will receive a copy of your rights during an intake process.

Q: What do I do if I have a complaint about services?
A: We want to hear from you any time you have a problem with your mental health services or you feel your rights have not been respected. You cannot be retaliated against for filing a complaint.  If you have a problem or a complaint, please call one of the following offices:

Q: I got a letter denying (or reducing) my services.  I do not agree with this.  What can I do?
A: There is a process in place for those situations. The letter that you received is called a Notice of Action.  You have the right to Appeal this Notice within twenty (20) calendar days of the date of the Notice. To Appeal, contact the Office of Member and Family Affairs or the Ombudsman for Medicaid Managed Care.  They will explain the Appeal process and help you with the process.  You can also appeal directly to a State Administrative Law Judge. There are very tight timeframes for the Appeal process, so you should call the Office of Member and Family Affairs or the Ombudsman for Medicaid Managed Care immediately if you think you might want to appeal.

Q: I want an Independent Advocate.  Who do I call?
A: Each community mental health center provides an Advocate to work with you on problems that may arise with your services.  However, if you would like someone that is not associated with the mental health center, you may call the  Ombudsman for Medicaid Managed Care at 303-832-8370.  The Ombudsman is an independent advocate hired by the state to help resolve problems with your mental health services.  Or, you may ask a friend or family member to be your advocate.  You will need to sign a designated client representative (DCR) form and may need to sign a release of information (ROI) for your mental health provider to share information with your friend or family member.

Q: What do I do if I need to change or cancel an appointment?
A: We all experience scheduling problems and have emergency situations once in a while.  If you find you cannot make a scheduled appointment or need to change an appointment, please call the provider's office 24 hours in advance, if possible.  It is a good idea to ask your provider at your first meeting what number to call if you have to cancel or change an appointment. Keep this number handy for when you need it.

Q: Where do I find support or advocacy groups within my community?
A: Please go to the resources page for more information.
